  1. The 17 Historical Books are: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther
  2. The Bible was written over a 1500 year span (from 1400 B.C to A.D. 100) over 40 generations
  3. The Bible was written by over 40 authors from many walks of life including kings, peasants, philosophers, fishermen, poets, statesmen, scholars
  4. The Bible was written on three continents – Asia, Africa, and Europe
  5. The Bible was written in three languages – Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek
  6. The word Bible comes for the Greek word Biblia, which literally means “books.
  7. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew. The New Testament was written in Greek
  8. The Star of Bethlehem was reported by Matthew, but at the same time Chinese astronomers recorded it, too
  9. The system of chapters was introduced in A.D. 1238 by Cardinal Hugo de S. Caro

  12. A Roman historian named Tactitus and a Jewish historian named Josephus both support the historical accuracy of the Bible
  13. In 1930-1936, Professor John Garstang discovered the city of Jericho during an archaeological dig
  14. Most modern scholars hold that the canonical Gospel accounts were written between 70 and 110 CE, four to six decades after the crucifixion
  15. John the Baptist began his ministry in the “15th year of Tiberius” (Luke 3:1-2)
  16. A shepherd boy discovered old clay jars in a cave by the Dead Sea. The old jars contained dusty scrolls, which turned out to be ancient copies of the Old Testament
  17. Historical Accuracy. The names of towns, cities, battles, kings, empires and great events, widely apart in time and place, are given without an error
  18. The ruins of cities of Assyria, Egypt and Babylon have been unearthed and tablets found that prove the accuracy of the Bible narrative.
  19. No one has been able to identify one historical mistake anywhere in the Bible
  20. The Hittites were once thought to be a Biblical legend, until their capital and records were discovered at Bogazkoy, Turkey.
  21. Archaeological evidence has confirmed that the Jews were exiled to Babylon in the 6th Century BC just as the Bible says
